“Beauty can be seen in
all things, seeing and composing the beauty is what separates the snapshot from
the photograph” (Matt Hardy). Photographs are one of life’s captured memorable
moments and can say a thousand words.
Landscapes or outdoor pictures are my favorite. “The
Perfect Landing”, by Charade’ la Roche is a great picture of downtown
Jacksonville. The picture shows different depths and architecture of the
buildings with the Jacksonville Landing in the front. The St. Johns River was
calm, on a beautiful day with blue skies and very few clouds. Downtown Jacksonville has a very pretty
skyline. Along the riverbank is a wooden walkway that is used to enjoy the
views of downtown Jacksonville. Living
in Jacksonville all of my life I have enjoyed the Landing on many occasions.
The Jacksonville Landing is used for many different things such as:
entertainment, shopping, eating and partying. People gather there for big
events like New Years Eve, 4th of July, Florida-Georgia weekend and
Christmas for the lighting of the Christmas tree. With having access to the
river boaters dock and enjoy the convenience of the restaurants and other activities.
The Perfect Landing, the first thing that comes to my mind is a jumbo airplane
landing without landing gear. This picture is about an attraction to the
downtown area. It is amazing how a title to a photograph and your mind
sometimes works in opposite directions.
“Serenity” by Ryan Lamer is another landscape picture.
Serenity is the state of being calm or tranquil. The title of the picture says
it all. The big open field with an old oak tree and pine trees in the distance
is a very soothing picture. One huge limb on the oak tree is bent and low
enough to climb upon. It is a place where you could sit and enjoy the beautiful
weather, relax to read a book or enjoy the peace. The tree looks to provide
enough shade that an afternoon picnic would be nice. The grass in the field is
brown and dry looking. It gives a feeling of a possible drought in the summer,
or possibly the beginning of fall. The sun is glaring through the tree which
looks like a big white ball of fire. The sky is bright blue with some clouds in
the air. This picture captures an amazing look at what Mother Nature has
created on this Earth.
“Home” photographed by Kaila Bacon is a picture of a pier
at the beach. This is my favorite because I love the beach. This looks like it
was taken at dusk. The sun is setting and it was a beautiful day to be at the
beach. The shadows from the pier are beaming on the earth. The tide is going
out after leaving water standing on the sand. The pier is long, probably used
for fishing. I’m sure the fishing stories are amazing. As far out as the pier
is, looks like some pretty big fish could have been caught from there. The
concrete pylons are supporting the structure, along with railings on either
side to prevent individuals from falling. In the background you can see tall
buildings which could possibly be hotels or condos. The view in the morning
seeing the sun rise from one of the buildings would be amazing. The waves are
crashing on the bottom of the pier. Being that close to the water you could
sleep with your doors or windows open and hear the sounds of the waves
crashing. The thought that comes to mind about this picture is a beautiful
place for a wedding. You have a beautiful view, background, peace and tranquility.
I’m not sure why this photographer called this picture “Home.” She either loves
the beach, the water, or to fish. I am not someone who likes to fish, but do
think this would be an awesome place.
Every picture tells a story that captures memories of
people, places or things. These pictures capture views that are beautifully
photographed scenes. Each photo that I chose showed something different. “The
Perfect Landing” was taken on a calm beautiful day in downtown Jacksonville.
“Serenity” says it all. This photo captures an amazing look at what Mother
Nature has created on this earth. “Home” is my favorite because I live in
Florida and love the beaches. Photographers have many different choices when it
comes to taking pictures. Personally I like landscapes, outdoor themes and
black and white photographs. Pictures are cherished memories of a lifetime.
